Long Island School of the Arts
Universal PreKindergarten Program
Universal PreK is a New York State funded initiative to provide preschool education to all four-year-olds in New York State. Children who will turn 4 by December 1 are eligible for UPK for the 2010-2011 school year regardless of income.
Contact us or the William Floyd School District for an application.

We offer a fun and safe environment in which your child will thrive as he/she is thoroughly prepared for Kindergarten by our certified, experienced staff.
We follow all New York State Guidelines for Kindergarten readiness. We schedule regular conferences to keep parents updated on their child's progress, and are always available to address any concerns parents might have.
Our emphasis on Music in the classroom is what makes our program exceptional. We have a certified Music Teacher on staff to provide regular live music and movement sessions. We introduce the children to a variety of instruments, and a variety of musical styles. Music in the classroom has been shown to enhance educational goals such as language development, socialization, following directions, sequencing as well as fine and gross motor skills. We believe it is a valuable tool in the creation of well-rounded students of the future.

Our Spring Showcase, "Off to The Market" was a big success! We sang songs about food like "Making Pizza" and "Tummy Tango". Our families were very excited to see us!
