Ceili Dance Workshops with Legislator Kate Browning

For the third year, Suffolk County Legislator Kate Browning partnered with Long Island School of the Arts to bring a series of
Irish Dance Workshops free-of-charge to the community.

A Ceili is a social dance event. Ceili dancing is similar to American Square dancing.  It is NOT the complicated Irish Tap dancing featured in "Riverdance". It is simple to learn and requires no special clothing or skills. Ceili is a great family activity, and is also a great way to get some exercise in a fun, social setting.

Workshops are held in the multi-purpose room at Woodhull Elementary School at
6 Francis Landau Place, in Shirley.

Participants should come prepared to move in comfortable clothes and shoes or sneakers. Bring along plenty of water.
The family workshops are most appropriate for children ages 8 and up. Parents are not required to participate, but children under 16 cannot attend without a parent present.

At our last meeting, we  invite our friends and family to a Ceili, which includes dancing, refreshments and spontaneous performances, all Irish-Themed.
